Retail inflation for farm workers and rural labourers inched up marginally to six.31 per cent and 6.16 per cent, respectively in June as in comparison with 5.99 per cent and 5.84 per cent in May this yr. The All-India Consumer Price Index Number for Agricultural Labourers and Rural Labourers for June 2023 elevated by 10 factors every to 1,196 factors and 1,207 factors, respectively. CPI-AL and CPI-RL have been 1,186 factors and 1,197 factors in May 2023.

“Point-to-point rate of inflation based on CPI-AL (consumer price index agricultural labour) and CPI-RL (rural labour) stood at 6.31 per cent and 6.16 per cent in June 2023 compared to 5.99 per cent and 5.84 per cent respectively in May 2023 and 6.43 per cent and 6.76 per cent during the corresponding month of (June 2022) the previous year,” a labour ministry assertion mentioned.

Similarly, meals inflation stood at 7.03 per cent and 6.70 per cent in June, in comparison with 6.31 per cent and 6.07 per cent in May and 5.09 per cent and 5.16 per cent in the year-ago interval. The main contribution in the direction of the rise in basic index of AL and RL got here from meals group to the extent of 9.59 factors and eight.96 factors, respectively primarily attributable to improve in costs of rice, pulses, milk, meat goat, fish-fresh/dry, gur, chillies-green/dry, garlic, ginger, onion, greens & fruits, and so on.

In case of AL, it recorded a rise of 2-20 factors in 17 states and a lower of 4 factors in Himachal Pradesh and 18 factors in Jammu & Kashmir whereas it remained stationary for Kerala. In case of RL, it recorded a rise of 1-20 factors in 18 states and a lower of two factors in Rajasthan and 16 factors in Jammu & Kashmir. Tamil Nadu with 1,379 factors topped the index desk whereas Himachal Pradesh with 973 factors stood on the backside. Among states, the utmost improve in the CPI-AL was skilled by Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu (20 factors every) and for RL by Andhra Pradesh (20 factors) primarily attributable to rise in costs of rice, pulses, poultry, fish recent, chillies-dry, ginger, onion, greens & fruits, and so on.
