Retail inflation for the month of July rose to a 15-month excessive of seven.44 per cent amid a spike in costs of greens and different meals objects, official information acknowledged on Monday.
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) based mostly inflation was at 4.87 in June and 6.71 per cent in July 2022.
Previously, excessive inflation was recorded at 7.79 per cent in April 2022.
The inflation in the meals basket was 11.51 per cent in July in contrast to 4.55 per cent in June and 6.69 per cent in July 2022, as per the information.
The retail inflation in greens year-on-year was 37.43 per cent whereas the speed of worth rise in ‘cereals and merchandise’ was 13 per cent, confirmed the information launched by the National Statistical Office (NSO).
