RSS Changes Social Media Profile Image To ‘Tiranga’, Congress Leader Calls It ‘Sheepish’


The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) up to date the profile photographs of its social media accounts from the customary saffron flag to the nationwide tricolour on Friday, forward of Independence Day, information company PTI reported.

As the nation marks the seventy fifth anniversary of India’s independence with the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav,’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi has suggested individuals to make use of the ‘tiranga’ (tricolour) because the profile photograph on their social media accounts between August 2 and 15.

The RSS, the ruling BJP’s political wing, has been chastised by the Congress and different opposition events for its stance on the nationwide flag.

Taking to Twitter, Congress chief Pawan Khera said: “After tremendous pressure for a week, a sheepish RSS org finally changes profile pictures to Tiranga.”

In an apparent reference to the RSS, Congress normal secretary Jairam Ramesh requested earlier this month if the organisation, which has not hoisted the nationwide flag at its headquarters in Nagpur for the previous 52 years, would comply with the prime minister’s directive to make the ‘tiranga’ the profile image of social media accounts.

On Friday, RSS publicity division co-incharge Narender Thakur said that the Sangh has been commemorating Independence Day by elevating the nationwide flag in any respect of its workplaces.

The Sangh up to date its social media profile photograph from their organisational banner to the nationwide flag.

He went on to say that RSS staff have been actively concerned within the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ marketing campaign.

As a part of its ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ marketing campaign, the federal authorities has invited residents to hoist or show the nationwide flag from their homes from August 13 to fifteen.

Sunil Ambekar, the top of the RSS’s publicity division, had beforehand said that such issues shouldn’t be politicised.

The RSS has already backed the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ and ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ programmes.

According to Ambekar, the Sangh had referred to as in July for full assist and involvement of the individuals and swayamsevaks within the programmes to be organised by the federal government, industrial entities, and Sangh-related organisations.
