Rupee rises 6 paise to 82.91 against U.S. dollar in early trade

The rupee sustained its upward momentum for the third straight session and gained 6 paise to 82.91 against the U.S. dollar in early trade on February 21, monitoring a weak American foreign money and optimistic fairness market sentiment.

However, promoting strain from international fairness buyers amid elevated stage of crude oil costs resisted a pointy acquire in the home foreign money, analysts mentioned.

At the interbank international trade, the home foreign money opened at 82.90 and slipped to 82.91 against the dollar in preliminary offers, registering a acquire of 6 paise from its earlier shut.

The rupee settled 4 paise greater at 82.97 against the US dollar on Tuesday, a day after gaining 4 paise in the previous buying and selling session on Friday. The foreign money market was closed on Monday on account of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti.

Meanwhile, the dollar index, which gauges the dollar’s energy against a basket of six currencies, was 0.07% decrease at 103.90.

Brent crude futures, the worldwide oil benchmark, superior 0.41% to $82.68 per barrel.

In the home fairness market, the 30-share BSE Sensex was buying and selling 43.64 factors or 0.06% greater at 73,101.04 factors. The broader NSE Nifty climbed 15.30 factors or 0.07% to 22,212.25 factors.

Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) have been web sellers in the capital markets on Tuesday as they offloaded shares value ₹1,335 crore, in accordance to trade information.
