Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Monday introduced its group’s squad for the multi-format collection in opposition to India and Quinton de Kock‘s identify was not a part of it. While saying South Africa’s squad for the house collection in opposition to India, Walter claimed that de Kock initially needed to retire from all codecs of cricket. He added that he requested him to maintain the choice. “In conversations with Quinny at the time of him walking away from ODI cricket (after the World Cup in India, which ended last month), it was originally his plan to retire altogether,” Walter informed media individuals on Monday.

“I asked him to hold off on that decision. He had a Big Bash opportunity which clashed with the India series. In order to keep him in the game this was the resolution,” he added.

De Kock earlier retired from the Test format and his final ODI sport got here within the World Cup 2023 semifinal in opposition to Australia. He is just not a part of the T20I collection as he will likely be enjoying within the Big Bash League, which clashes with the schedule of India T20Is. The BBL will start on December 7 whereas the India vs South Africa T20I collection will kick off from December 10 onwards. 

The Proteas have named a 16-member squad for the T20I collection in opposition to India and Reeza Hendricks shall get an prolonged run in de Kock’s absence.
