Kolkata: Satyajit Ray‘s 1970 film, Pratidwandi (The Adversary), which tells the story of an informed middle-class man caught within the turmoil of social unrest, was chosen to be screened at the Cannes Film Festival to be held later this month.
Restored by the National Film Archives lately, it is going to be proven within the Classics Section of the celebrated film competition, Union Information and Broadcasting Secretary Apurva Chandra mentioned.
Pratidwandi, which was made primarily based on a narrative of Bengali writer Sunil Gangopadhyay, had received three Indian National Film Awards, together with the National Film Award for Best Direction, in 1971.
