New Delhi: The Supreme Court has rejected the PIL which sought to take away 26 verse from Quran stating that these verses enticed violence in opposition to non-Muslims and promotes terrorism. The petitioner was additionally fined Rs.50,000.
The petitioner, Wasim Rizvi, former chairman of the UP Shia Waqf Board argued that these verses have been written to encourage violence and homicide in opposition to non-Muslims. Madrasas demanded a ban on their schooling. He said that the verses are used as “justifications” by Islamist Terrorist Groups for assaults on non-believers/ civilians.
A bench of the Apex Court, headed by Justice Rohinton Fali Nariman heard the petition filed by Rizvi right this moment, April twelfth 2021.
