Schools, colleges in Bengal to remain shut next week due to ‘severe’ heatwave: Mamata Banerjee

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on April 16 stated all instructional establishments in the State will remain closed next week in view of the “severe” heatwave situations.

Ms. Banerjee stated kids have been complaining of complications and different well being points after getting back from college in the previous few days.

“All educational institutions, including schools, colleges, universities will remain closed from Monday till Saturday next week, keeping in mind the severe heatwave conditions. I urge the private educational institutions to do the same during this period,” Ms. Banerjee told a Bengali news channel.

The Chief Minister said an official notification in this regard will be issued soon.

“I can even request folks to keep away from popping out in the solar from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.,” she stated.

The West Bengal authorities had earlier introduced preponing the summer season trip in State-run and aided faculties by three weeks to May 2, besides in the hill areas, due to the sweltering warmth.

Most locations in the State have been recording day temperatures in extra of 40 levels Celsius, and the MeT Department has forecast that heatwave situations will proceed until April 19.
