SCO Summit: S Jaishankar To Hold Meeting With Chinese, Russian Counterparts In Goa Today


New Delhi: External Affairs Minister of India S Jaishankar will maintain a bilateral assembly with Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, and Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan in Goa on Thursday.”Tomorrow`s bilateral meetings of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar with SCO Secretary General, foreign ministers of Russia, China and Uzbekistan,” an MEA official instructed ANI. It is pertinent to say that that is the second time that each Chinese and Russian ministers are in India this 12 months.

They have been in New Delhi in March for the G20 Foreign Ministers` assembly. The SCO Foreign Ministers` Meeting shall be held on May 4 and 5 in Goa. Earlier, China mentioned their Foreign Minister would go to India to attend the SCO Foreign Ministers` Meeting.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson mentioned, “At the assembly, State Councillor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang will change views with different SCO member states` international ministers on the worldwide and regional scenario and SCO cooperation in varied fields, amongst different matters, to make full preparation for this 12 months`s SCO summit.

“India and China`s relations deteriorated after the Galwan Valley conflict. India and China have held a number of rounds of army and diplomatic talks for disengagement alongside the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in japanese Ladakh following the actions of the Chinese Army which led to a standoff in May 2020.

There is not any affirmation of a bilateral between India`s international minister S Jaishankar and Pakistani international minister Bilawal Bhutto.Pakistan`s Foreign Ministry mentioned that Bhutto-Zardari will lead the Pakistani delegation to the assembly of SCO international ministers in Goa.

Pakistan Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch throughout a weekly presser on Thursday acknowledged that Bhutto-Zardari is attending the SCO Foreign Ministers` assembly on the invitation of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.

“Our participation at the meeting reflects Pakistan`s continued commitment to the SCO charter and process and the importance that Pakistan accords to the region in its foreign policy priorities,” the spokesperson mentioned.

Bilawal would be the first international minister to go to India after a spot of practically 12 years, reported Business Recorder. In 2011, then Pakistan international minister Hina Rabbani Khar visited India.Founded in 2001, the members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) embody Russia, India, China, Pakistan, and 4 central Asian nations – Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
