Scuffle Erupts Between Oppn MLAs, Security Staff in Kerala Assembly Over Protest Outside Speaker’s Office

Speaking to reporters, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly VD Satheesan stated 4 MLAs — Rema, AKM Ashraf, TV Ibrahim, and Saneesh Kumar — have sustained accidents through the scuffle with safety guards

A tense scenario prevailed for some time in the Kerala Assembly advanced on Wednesday as a piece of the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) MLAs took out a march to the workplace of Speaker AN Shamseer and staged a protest accusing him of being biased in the House.

As the Opposition MLAs staged a sit-in outdoors the Speaker’s workplace, the Watch and Ward employees (often known as home marshals) lifted them and tried to take away them from the premises. The MLAs lay on the bottom and refused to go away the constructing.

Speaking to reporters, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly VD Satheesan stated 4 MLAs — Rema, AKM Ashraf, TV Ibrahim, and Saneesh Kumar — have sustained accidents through the scuffle with safety guards.

“The CM will not be able to reply any questions. Therefore, we boycotted the Assembly and have been holding a protest outdoors the workplace of the Speaker however our MLAs together with ladies have been attacked by ruling celebration MLAs and employees of ministers…They (CPIM) appointed a 10-member crew to disrupt my speech in the Kerala Assembly session. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is imitating PM. What is occurring in the Parliament, the identical is occurring in Kerala Assembly,” Satheesan was quoted as saying by the information company ANI.

Soon after their notice for adjournment motion on women’s security was denied a nod in the House, the Opposition staged a walkout and marched to Shamseer’s office raising slogans and holding a banner in their hands saying “Speaker should show justice”.

During heated arguments between the legislators and the safety employees, Chalakudy MLA TJ Saneesh Kumar Joseph complained of some uneasiness and was shifted quickly to the medical room. Later, he was shifted to an ICU of a basic hospital.

The Congress-led UDF has accused safety employees, some ruling MLAs and the personnel employees of some ministers for assaulting them.

Senior legislator and former residence minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan was pushed, and MLA KK Rema’s hand was twisted and dragged on the ground by four-five ladies marshals, they alleged.
