Security on high alert in Tamil Nadu after infiltration threats

The Tamil Nadu state police and Central intelligence companies have stepped up vigil after threats of an armed group making an attempt to infiltrate from Sri Lanka had been obtained.

An alert was issued by a Central intelligence company on Saturday night and the police have stepped up vigil in the cities of Kanyakumari, Toothukudi, Rameswaram, in addition to in Chennai.

According to knowledgeable intelligence sources, a ship carrying armed operatives was headed in the direction of Rameswaram coast.
