The BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty are closed for buying and selling as we speak i.e. August 19 on account of Muharram. Muharram commemorates the loss of life of the Prophet Muhammad’s grandson, Hussein Ibn Ali in the battle of Karbala in AD 680. It additionally marks the start of the Islamic New Year.

The foreign money markets may even be shut for the day. However, the MCX can be closed solely within the morning session from 9 am to five pm. Normal buying and selling will resume on Friday i.e. August 19.
