Senior Congress chief Shashi Tharoor on May 7 stated the voters of Manipur are feeling “grossly betrayed” only a 12 months after placing the BJP in energy and known as for the imposition of President’s rule within the State that has witnessed violent clashes.
Violent clashes had damaged out in Manipur final week between tribals and members of the bulk Meitei group, which has to date displaced hundreds of folks and killed at the very least 54.

“The voters of Manipur are feeling grossly betrayed just a year after putting the BJP in power in their state. It’s time for President’s Rule; the State Government is just not up to the job they were elected to do,” the previous Union Minister stated.
The clashes broke out after a ‘Tribal Solidarity March’ was organised within the ten hill districts of the state to protest in opposition to the Meitei group’s demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) standing.
Meiteis account for about 53% of Manipur’s inhabitants and dwell principally within the Imphal valley. Tribals — Nagas and Kukis — represent one other 40% of the inhabitants and dwell principally within the hill districts.
