Sensex Today: Equities bought hammered in early hours Thursday as weak world sentiment, amid escalating conflict issues within the Middle East, saved buyers on the sidelines.
The S&P BSE Sensex fell 474 factors to cite at 65,403 ranges, whereas the Nifty50 opened under 19,550-mark.
Wipro, Hindalco, Tata Steel, JSW Steel, Power Grid, Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, Titan, UPL, Grasim, Adani Ports, HDFC Bank, M&M, and L&T misplaced floor on the bourses with as much as 3 per cent slide.
Meanwhile, within the broader market, the BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices fell 0.7 per cent and 0.4 per cent, respectively.
Amid a broad-based mostly promoting, the Nifty Metal index fell 1.5 per cent, the Nifty Realty dropped 1.24 per cent, and the Nifty Financial Services declined 0.8 per cent.
Global Cues
In Asia, Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 slid 1.33 per cent, Japan’s Nikkei 225 tumbled 1.42 per cent, South Korea’s Kospi was down 1.62 per cent, and Hong KOng’s Hang Seng shed 1.65 per cent.
Overnight, the Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 0.98 per cent, the S&P 500 slid 1.34 per cent, whereas the Nasdaq Composite dropped 1.62 per cent.
US Treasury yields jumped to multiyear highs, with the ten-yr Treasury yield breaking above 4.9 per cent for the primary time since 2007.
