Mirzapur web series has depicted the religious, spiritual and social life of the district in such a way that it has shocked the public mind. The district has been shown to be a city of mafias whereas it has been a major trading centre of the world in the 18th century.

In the web series, the stone and brass industry of the district has been cornered. Showing rude and mafia connections about the district has affected the jobs and social life of the people of Mirzapur. Part three of this web series is now being shot. The Supreme Court has issued the notice after taking cognizance on the same day. March 8 has been fixed for the hearing date.

Case Filed Under Several Sections

An FIR has been registered against the makers of the Mirzapur web series at the Kotwali Dehat Police Station in Mirzapur district. In the complaint, it has been alleged that Mirzapur town has been shown incorrectly in the series, which hurts religious faith.

A case was registered against the makers of the web series under sections 295-A, 504, 505 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 67-A of the IT Act. The lawyers of Sidhwani and other producers have argued that even if all the allegations made in the FIR are true, no offence has been made against the petitioners. There is no allegation that this web series has been created with the intention of hurting the religious and social sentiments of the citizens.
