Turkey will host a serious summit on Afghanistan’s peace course of in Istanbul from April 24 to May 4, its international ministry mentioned on Tuesday, including representatives from the Taliban and Afghan authorities would each attend the talks.
The assembly consists of the United Nations and Qatar as a part of a US-backed push to jump-start the peace course of. On Monday, the Taliban mentioned it was unwilling, primarily based on timing, to attend talks in Turkey that had been initially scheduled for April 16.
“Participation in the Conference and its agenda have been the subject of extensive consultations with the Afghan parties,” the ministry mentioned. The assembly is supposed to decide a roadmap for a future political settlement and finish to the battle, it added.
