In the wake of the continued COVID-19 pandemic, the Tamil Nadu authorities on Saturday introduced a week-long lockdown within the State that has come into power from at this time.


The lockdown might be in place till May 31 till 6 PM.

An official notification said, “The lockdown Implemented in Tamil Nadu is further extended for the period of one week from 24.05.2021 without any relaxation.”

“Only the following activities will be allowed – Pharmacies, Veterinary pharmacies, milk supply, drinking water and daily newspaper distribution,” it added.

Vegetables, fruits required by most of the people might be offered by the Department of Horticulture in automobiles in Chennai and in all districts in collaboration with the involved native our bodies and company are additionally allowed. News and media corporations can function as regular as effectively, it stated.

Private and authorities buses might be allowed to ply at this time.

Earlier, the federal government introduced a lockdown within the State from May 10 for a interval of two weeks. Yesterday, Tamil Nadu logged 11,239 new Covid-19 instances, 24,478 discharges and 467 deaths as per the state well being bulletin.
