Thane: 16 COVID-19 hotspots under lockdown

Amid the rise in COVID-19 cases, Thane Municipal Corporation on Tuesday imposed a lockdown at 16 hotspot areas from today until March 31. Activities shall be allowed in areas outdoors hotspots as per rest given under Mission Begin Again by the Maharashtra authorities. Earlier, a lockdown between March 13 and 31 was declared in 11 hotspots in Thane metropolis by the civic administration. The order, issued by Thane Municipal Commissioner Vipin Sharma, mentioned the choice was taken because of the rise in COVID-19 cases in these areas in the previous few days. 

It mentioned all restrictions that had been in place through the nationwide lockdown declared earlier can be in power throughout this time as nicely.

As of Monday morning, the caseload of the Thane district was 2,69,845, together with 6,302 deaths.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra reported 8,744 new COVID-19 cases, 9,068 recoveries, and 22 deaths in the final 24 hours, the State Health Department knowledgeable on Monday.

The state has up to now reported 22,28,471 complete COVID-19 cases, out of which, 97,637 lively cases, the Maharashtra Health Department mentioned. A complete of 52,500 folks have died on account of COVID-19 in the state up to now.

With 9,068 extra recoveries in the state, as many as 20,77,112 cases have recovered from the virus.
