All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi after all of the eleven convicts sentenced to life imprisonment for the 2002 post-Godhra Bilkis Bano gang rape and homicide of seven members of her household walked out of Godhra sub-jail after the Gujarat authorities allowed their launch beneath its remission coverage.Â
The Hyderabad MP took to Twitter to revoke the PM’s Independence Day speech and stated, “This is BJP’s version of AZADI KA AMRIT.”Â
“People who are GUILTY of a heinous crime have been given freedom. BJP’s bias for a religion is such that even brutal rape & hate crimes are forgivable. Will BJP-Shinde Maha govt form committee to consider Rubina Memon’s remission too?” he requested.
A particular Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) courtroom in Mumbai on January 21, 2008, sentenced the eleven accused to life imprisonment on the cost of gang rape and homicide of seven members of Bilkis Bano’s household. Their conviction was later upheld by the Bombay High Court.

The Bilkis Bano gang rapeÂ
After the violence erupted following the burning of a Sabarmati Express coach that killed 59 ‘karsevaks ‘on February 27, 2002, Bilkis Bano, who was five-month pregnant at the moment, fled her village together with her toddler daughter and 15 others.
On March 3, they took shelter in a discipline when a mob of 20-30 folks armed with sickles, swords and sticks attacked them and Bilkis Bano was gang raped, whereas seven members of her household had been killed. Six different members managed to run away.
Given the outrage over the incident, the Supreme Court ordered a CBI probe.
The accused in the case had been arrested in 2004.

One of them, Radheshyam Shah, had approached the Gujarat High Court in search of remission of the sentence beneath sections 432 and 433 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
