Nagamma, a marginal farmer from Antharasanthe hobli in H.D. Kote taluk, is a role model for ladies.
She has engaged within the conservation of 10 sorts of amaranth, three sorts of millets and 10 sorts of greens. Notably, she has mobilised girls farmers and shaped three girls teams.
She is instrumental in establishing a “Farmers’ Market” in Mysuru. Every Saturday, farmers market occurs at Namdu Market in Jayalakshmipuram.
Ms. Nagamma has supported Sreenivas of Ramenahalli to determine Amaranth Diversity Bank, which consists of 23 amaranth varieties and developed tuber recipes for popularising roots and tubers in addition to introducing drumstick pickle and recipes of different uncared for crops, based on CSIR-CFTRI which felicitated her on the event of International Women’s Day right here.
