‘Those Calling Inflation A National Calamity Should Quit Food,’ Says Chhattisgarh BJP MLA; Clarifies Later

Raipur: Chhattisgarh BJP MLA and former state minister Brijmohan Agrawal stoked controversy together with his remarks on complains relating to inflation. He stated that those that name inflation a nationwide calamity ought to cease consuming meals and utilizing petrol.

A video of the MLA’s assertion has been extensively shared on social media platforms.

Talking to reporters on Thursday, Agrawal stated: “If inflation is a national calamity, then I think those who are calling it so should stop eating and drinking. They should quit food and stop using petrol.”

“I think if Congress members and those who vote for Congress do so, the inflation would automatically come down,” he added.

The ruling Congress celebration has termed this assertion as “shameful”. In its response, the celebration quipped that the day is just not far when the saffron celebration will ask those that oppose the centre to depart the nation.

With the video and remarks garnering extra consideration, BJP MLA Brijmohan Agrawal issued a clarification on Friday. “While interacting with reporters, I satirically made a statement that if Congressmen stop eating and using petrol, inflation would decline as the state Congress chief had termed inflation as a national calamity,” he stated.

He added that he didn’t intend to ask anybody to cease having meals or utilizing petrol, stating that he made the remark in a lighter vein whereas chatting with reporters after a press meet.

Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh Congress’s communication wing in cost Shailesh Nitin Trivedi has criticised Agrawal’s remarks, saying that the BJP cannot even realise the ache of people who find themselves bearing the brunt of the value hike.

“Making such a vague statement is very shameful. They will later say that those who oppose the centre should quit India,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Congress leaders and staff plan to stage a state-wide protest on Saturday towards the union authorities over the difficulty of inflation and value hike.
