Telecom regulator TRAI on Monday issued a draft to repeal the regulation on high quality of service of dial-up and leased line web entry service.
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) stated that there aren’t any dial-up subscribers now and high-speed broadband companies are being supplied by optical fibres, wi-fi applied sciences similar to 4G.
“Authority decided to repeal the Regulation on quality of service of dial-up and leased line internet access service, 2001 (4 of 2001) with effect from the date of its notification in the Official Gazette,” the draft stated.
TRAI has sought feedback on the draft by April 17.
The regulation on high quality of service of dial-up and leased line web entry service, 2001, was notified with the first purpose of specifying the standard of service benchmarks to be achieved by the service suppliers, guarantee buyer satisfaction with the community efficiency and to shield the pursuits of subscribers of the web service.
Under these laws, no efficiency report submission by the service supplier was subscribed.
This regulation is relevant to all of the Basic Service Operators and Internet Service Providers, together with the incumbent operators viz BSNL, MTNL and VSNL.
