All-India Inter SAI Takewondo Championship (PTI)
A complete of 265 taekwondo gamers from 21 Sports Authority of India centres will compete on the All-India Inter SAI Taekwondo Championship which started on the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex right here on Friday.
The gamers are a part of 4 SAI National Centres of Excellence in Lucknow, Bangalore, Guwahati and Trivandrum in addition to 17 SAI Training Centres.
The three-day match is being organised in commemoration of the fiftieth yr of India-Korea diplomatic relations.
Present on the opening ceremony had been Sports Secretary Sujata Chaturvedi, SAI Director General Sandip Pradhan, Korean Ambassador to India Chang Jae Bok, Deputy Minister & Ambassador for Public Diplomacy of Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sang-hwa Lee, Korea National Sport University Chancellor Yong-gyu Ahn amongst others.
The three-day occasion can be competed in the cadet (U-14), junior (U-17) and senior age teams.
The competitors is split in two components — Poomsae and Sparring known as Kyorugi.
The sparring, Kyorugi division is split in accordance to the competitors guidelines of the World Taekwondo Federation in gamers’ age and weight and Poomsae division can be divided into males’s and girls’s classes solely.
The 10 Kyorugi and two Poomsae winners, who will win gold medals in every class, will go to Korea National Sport University with the help of Korean authorities and obtain an training and coaching program for about three weeks.
