Two Naxals killed in encounter with police in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma

Two Naxals, together with a girl, have been killed in an encounter with police in Chhattisgarh‘s Sukma district on Monday morning, May 8, 2023, an official stated.

A cache of explosives and an automated weapon have been recovered from the encounter website, he stated.

The gunfight happened in a forest close to Danteshpuram village below Bheji police station limits when a group of District Reserve Guard (DRG) was out on an anti-Naxal operation, Sukma Superintendent of Police Sunil Sharma informed PTI.

The Naxals opened fireplace on the DRG’s patrolling group following which the gun-battle broke out, he stated.

After weapons fell silent, our bodies of two Naxalis have been recovered from the spot, the official stated.

They have been recognized as Madkam Erra, who was energetic as commander of Golapalli Local Organisation Squad (LOS), and Madkam Bhime, deputy commander of the identical squad, he stated.

Erra and Bhime have been carrying rewards of ₹8 lakh and ₹3 lakh respectively on their heads, the official stated.

Search operation was underway in close by areas, he added.
