U.S. Treasury Secretary Yellen to visit India next week for G20 meetings

U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen would journey to India next week to take part within the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Ministerial, throughout which her precedence would be the struggle in Ukraine and addressing the challenges for constructing a stronger, extra resilient and world economic system.

“In these engagements, Yellen will join with allies in holding Russia accountable for its illegal invasion of Ukraine, and partner with countries to mitigate the spillover effects of the war. Yellen will also engage with partners to address challenges and build a stronger, more resilient, global economy,” the Department of Treasury stated in a press release on Friday.

Ms. Yellen will maintain a press convention within the afternoon of February 23. She will focus on resilience of the U.S. and world economic system within the face of headwinds together with Russia’s unlawful invasion of Ukraine and spotlight key priorities for the Treasury throughout the G20, the Treasury stated.

Next day, she’s going to take part in Sessions I and II of the G20 Finance Ministers assembly on “International Financial Architecture, Sustainable Finance and Infrastructure,” in addition to on “Financial Sector and Financial Inclusion.”

On February 25, Ms. Yellen may also convene a roundtable with US and Indian executives within the tech sector to focus on deepening bilateral financial ties as properly advancing shared targets like bolstering digital public infrastructure. The similar day she is scheduled to take part within the third G20 session on “Global Economics, Health and International Tax.”

While in India, Ms. Yellen will take part in different occasions and bilateral meetings, together with with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and United Kingdom Chancellor of the Exchequer Jeremy Hunt.
