New Delhi: Soon personnel from the federal government ministries, departments, businesses and public sector models will probably be ready to guide taxis for official functions from cab aggregator Uber as the corporate has partnered with public procurement portal GeM to present the service.
“It will be a kind of corporate service. At present, we have started the service on a pilot basis and gradually it will be available for all the government ministers, departments, agencies and public sector units (PSUs). We are planning to go phase by phase,” an official mentioned. The firm would offer the service at a fixed price with zero cancellation prices and no surge pricing.
The firm has registered at the portal of presidency e-marketplace (GeM), which was launched in 2016 by the commerce ministry for getting items and services by central ministries and departments with a view to bringing transparency in authorities procurement.
There is a rising demand for taxi services within the authorities and all of the departments spend enormous quantities on this service, however now through the use of this service they might have the ability to save quantity. Cab and taxi services are the second highest class of services at the GeM portal, that are in demand by the federal government division and ministries.
Explaining additional, the official mentioned that an authorised individual in every ministry or division can add riders/officers, who can be allowed to guide the service by way of the Uber app from their mobiles.
“The authorised official can add or delete the name of riders as per the requirements. After availing the service, the bill will directly go to the department,” the official added. It will probably be a cashless/cardless trip of the officers; extra car classes for presidency riders have been added — GeM Yatraa Hatch, GeM Yatraa Sedan; and there will probably be hourly rental for multiple-stops.
When contacted, an organization official confirmed the partnership. GeM has over 63,000 authorities purchaser organisations, over 62 lakh sellers and repair suppliers providing a variety of merchandise and services.
Currently, authorities departments, ministries, public sector models, state governments, and central armed police forces are allowed to perform transactions by way of this portal. The portal gives a variety of merchandise from workplace stationery to autos.
Automobiles, computer systems and workplace furnishings are among the main product classes. Services, together with transportation, logistics, waste administration, internet casting and analytical, are additionally listed on the portal.
Among central authorities ministries, the ability ministry was the highest purchaser in 2022-23 from the platform. The ministry procured items and services price Rs 30,572.9 crore. It was adopted by the defence ministry (Rs 28,741.2 crore), Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (Rs 28,157.2 crore), metal ministry (Rs 12,527.3 crore), and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (Rs 7,158.3 crore).
South Korea’s KONEPS is the biggest such platform on the planet. Currently, GeM stands at the third place after Singapore’s GeBIZ.
