An undertrial prisoner died of coronavirus an infection at the Colvale jail in Goa, a senior official mentioned on Monday.

Yellappa Karbal, an accused in a homicide case, was stored in a particular cell designated for prisoners contaminated by the coronavirus. He fell unconscious there on Sunday night, the official mentioned.

The prisoner was later shifted to the North Goa District Hospital in Mapusa city the place he was declared introduced useless, the official mentioned.
