Balrampur: The Balrampur police have arrested a cleric in reference to an FIR lodged in July 2022 by which he was accused of allegedly forcing a girl and her youngsters to embrace Islam, police mentioned. The accused had allegedly supplied them cash and guaranteed the girl of a everlasting job in return.
Incharge of Jarwa police station in Balarampur, inspector Pawan Kumar Kannaujia, mentioned that one Krishna had lodged an FIR accusing Mohammed Shahid, an area cleric, of kidnapping his spouse Karishma and their 4 youngsters on the pretext of getting her a everlasting job in a personal firm and supply them with a home.
Krishna claimed that Shahid had made the supply in change for Karishma and her youngsters embracing Islam. Allegations are that two days after her kidnapping, Karishma returned house realising that she was being `trapped`.
Thereafter, Shahid once more approached her and tried to lure her afresh. When she knowledgeable her husband about it, the latter lodged an FIR. Police mentioned Shahid escaped from Balrampur the day the FIR was lodged.
Kannaujia mentioned, “We had tip-offs regarding his (accused) whereabouts in Delhi and Mumbai but he managed to escape.” Shahid had come to Balrampur to meet his ailing relative and this time he was arrested.
