Doctors at Sarojini Naidu Medical College (SNMC) in Agra successfully operated on a newborn who had signs of black fungus (Mucormycosis) on Monday. TheĀ 14-day-old lady had a black spot and blister on her left cheek when she was admitted to the hospital on Saturday night and after the operation the fungal an infection was eliminated, Dr Akhilesh Pratap Singh, head of ENT division informed PTI.
When she was admitted at SNMC, she had kidney and coronary heart sickness, and was underweight, however there have been no signs of COVID-19, he added.
She is now out of hazard and has been shifted to neonatal ICU of the paediatric division and is beneath commentary, the physician stated.
According to him, there was one demise as a result of black fungus whereas 4 others died as a result of suspected an infection at SNMC.
Currently, 32 sufferers are being handled for black fungus on the hospital whereas eight others are beneath analysis, he added.Ā
