The crime department of the Kanpur Police Commissionerate has busted oxygen black-marketing racket and recovered 51 cylinders. The fuel company proprietor in Govind Nagar space of town has been arrested.

According to DCP (crime) Salman Taj Patil, investigations revealed that the company proprietor was concerned in black marketing of oxygen cylinders.

“Working on the complaints of black marketing of oxygen cylinders, we zeroed in on the gas agency owner near Nad Lal crossing in Govind Nagar area,” stated Patil.

The police seized almost 51 large and small oxygen fuel cylinders from godown and took company proprietor, Jaswant Singh, into custody for questioning.

“We are seeking ledger details from him regarding sale and purchase of Oxygen cylinder in past few days. He will be booked under relevant sections of the IPC if charges against him are found to be true,” the police officer stated.

Following the incident, City Police Commissioner Asim Arun warned in opposition to the hoarding, unlawful shopping for or promoting of oxygen cylinders.

The Kanpur unit of (*51*) Task Force (STF) had, on Thursday final, arrested three individuals with 265 Remdesivir injections meant on the market in black market.

“Traders are cashing in on the virus ‘panic’ by jacking up prices of the product,” stated an official.

He additional stated that a few of these cylinders had been being bought to Covid-19 sufferers beneath house quarantine at exorbitant costs.
