New Delhi: The story of IAS Manoj Kumar Rai exemplifies the adage, “where there’s a will, there’s a way.” Rising from humble beginnings, he overcame daunting poverty and setbacks to realize success as a civil servant.
In his earlier days, Rai discovered himself promoting eggs and cleansing flooring to maintain himself. Yet, fuelled by willpower and persistence, he toiled tirelessly. Eventually, his efforts bore fruit when he efficiently cleared the UPSC examination. Today, he pays it ahead by providing free IAS teaching to underprivileged people aspiring for a profession in civil service.
Hailing from the small village of Supaul in Bihar, Rai was acquainted with profound poverty and adversity from a younger age. Despite the myriad challenges, he accomplished his schooling and later relocated to Delhi to help his household.
Transitioning from village life to the bustling cityscape of Delhi offered its personal set of challenges for Rai. Nevertheless, he persevered, attempting his hand at numerous occupations. Despite preliminary setbacks, together with failed ventures and odd jobs like promoting eggs and greens, Rai remained undeterred. His encounter with college students at Jawaharlal Nehru University sparked a transformative ambition inside him, compelling him to pursue increased schooling and aspire for a profession within the civil companies.
Balancing his research with menial jobs, Rai regularly ready for the UPSC examination. Despite going through monetary constraints and useful resource limitations, he remained resolute in his pursuit. After a number of unsuccessful makes an attempt, Rai adopted a strategic strategy, meticulously protecting the syllabus and strengthening his foundational information. This dedication culminated in success when he lastly cracked the UPSC examination in 2010, securing a commendable All India Rank of 870.
Inspired by his personal struggles, Rai resolved to offer free teaching to deprived college students, echoing his personal journey from adversity to accomplishment.
