The private data of 237,000 present and former federal authorities workers has been uncovered in an information breach on the U.S. Transportation Department (USDOT), sources briefed on the matter stated on Friday.

The breach hit programs for processing TRANServe transit advantages that reimburse authorities workers for some commuting prices. It was not clear if any of the private data had been used for felony functions.

USDOT stated in an announcement to Reuters that the breach didn’t have an effect on any transportation security programs. It didn’t say who is likely to be chargeable for the hack.

The division is investigating the breach and has frozen entry to the transit profit system till it has been secured and restored, it stated.

The most profit allowance is $280 per 30 days for federal worker mass transit commuting prices.
