With the Uttarakhand Police drawing flak for giving Guard of Honour to newly-appointed state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Madan Kaushik, Bageshwar Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Nilesh Anand Bharne has stated it was a “misunderstanding”.
The prime cop’s comment comes because the Uttarakhand Police Headquarters had sought a report with regard to the episode. The incident came about when Kaushik, a fourth-term MLA from the Haridwar meeting constituency, visited Bageshwar after taking up because the Uttarakhand BJP chief.
