Uttarakhand glacier break: 15 BRO workers, hailing from Jharkhand, killed in Sumna avalanche

New Delhi: The search operation for employees who went lacking after the avalanche in Sumna close to the India-China border in Chamoli district continued on Tuesday (April 27). So far, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) recovered 15 our bodies of BRO employees, all hailing from Jharkhand, from the positioning of the incident. 

After a submit mortem of the our bodies in Joshimath, they have been despatched to Shrinagar Garhwal Hospital for embalming by the district administration. All the our bodies recovered up to now have been recognized, Chamoli District Magistrate Swati S Bhadauria mentioned. They have been all BRO employees from Jharkhand, she mentioned.

Talks have been held with the Jharkhand authorities for handing over the our bodies to their households and it’s prone to be performed by Wednesday by the BRO, she mentioned.

The street from Malari to Sumna is being cleared of snow. The avalanche hit Sumna on Friday final week after which BRO employees engaged in a undertaking there went lacking.

“Meanwhile, three people are still missing and efforts are on to locate them,” Chamoli Disaster Management Officer N Ok Joshi informed to PTI. 

Sumna, the place the avalanche occurred on Friday, is situated close to the confluence of the Girthigad and Kiogad, two streams that originate from the Dhauli Ganga river, which witnessed a calamitous avalanche in February, killing 80 individuals and leaving 126 lacking.

Seven individuals injured in the incident are present process remedy. Five of them are receiving remedy at Joshimath Army Hospital whereas two have been taken to Dehradun.
