Kedarnath trek route: While the pilgrimage remained suspended on account of inclement climate, a component of a glacier broke away and slid down the mountainside blocking the trek path to the Kedarnath shrine on Wednesday.

Speaking to the media, SDRF head constable Santosh Rawat mentioned that 4 Nepali porters had been rescued unharmed by the State Disaster Response Force personnel. There had been stranded on the route, he added. 

“A part of the Bhairav/Kuber glacier broke away and slid down about 5 km below the Himalayan temple. Luckily, the yatra was on hold on Wednesday and no one was hurt,” District Disaster Management Officer of Rudraprayag Nandan Singh Rajwar mentioned, including the snow gathered alongside the trek route will probably be eliminated as soon as the climate improves.

Kedarnath yatra placed on maintain

Earlier on Tuesday, the yatra to Kedarnath was placed on maintain on account of heavy snowfall within the larger reaches and pilgrims had been requested to attend at locations like Rishikesh, Shrinagar, Fata and Sonprayag. Garhwal IG KS Nagnyal mentioned it’s being finished to make sure the protection of pilgrims.

The scenario is being reviewed every day and choices are being taken accordingly, he mentioned. Meanwhile, DGP Ashok Kumar mentioned snowfall was persevering with in Kedarnath for the final 24 hours. He requested pilgrims to remain wherever they had been and mentioned they need to look forward to the official advisory on Thursday earlier than embarking on their onward journey.
