A glacier has burst near Uttarakhand’s Joshimath on India-China border, ANI reported quoting Colonel Manish Kapil, Commander, Border Road Task Force.
In February, a glacier broke off at Joshimath in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district, main to an enormous flood within the Dhauli Ganga river and inflicting large-scale devastation within the higher reaches of the ecologically fragile Himalayas.
Homes alongside the way in which had been swept away because the waters rushed down the mountainsides in a raging torrent.
Over 70 our bodies had been recovered and tons of had been declared lacking as rescue and search operations continued for days.Â
Later, the Uttarakhand authorities issued a notification authorising officers to declare ‘presumed lifeless’ 136 individuals who went lacking after the flash flood.
