Businessman Gautam Adani’s Adani Group on Monday mentioned it has no direct or oblique involvement within the building of Uttarakhand’s Silkyara tunnel, the place 41 employees have been trapped because it collapsed.
“It has come to our notice that some elements are making nefarious attempts to link us to the unfortunate collapse of a tunnel in Uttarakhand,” an Adani group spokesperson mentioned.Â
The group launched a press release on X during which it mentioned the conglomerate strongly condemned the makes an attempt to link the tunnel project with the corporate.
“We strongly condemn these attempts and those behind them. We clarify with utmost emphasis that the Adani Group or any of its subsidiaries has no direct or indirect involvement of any kind in the tunnel’s construction. We also clarify that we do not own or hold any shares in the company involved in the tunnel’s construction. At this time, our thoughts and prayers are with the trapped workers and their families,” the spokesperson, Adani Group mentioned.
The building employees have been trapped 260 meters contained in the Silkyara-Barkot tunnel since November 12 when part of the under-construction tunnel collapsed following a landslide.
The Silkyara tunnel, which is a part of the Char Dham all-weather accessibility project, is being constructed by Hyderabad-based Navayuga Engineering Company Limited.
Strongly condemning any “nefarious attempts” to link its identify to the collapse, the Adani group mentioned, “At this time, our thoughts and prayers are with the trapped workers and their families”.
