Water supply was restored to round 90 per cent of the areas affected by a pipeline restore work in the trans-Yamuna area on Monday morning, at the same time as some residential colonies complained of getting soiled and smelly water. The supply was hit in many localities of east and north-east Delhi over the weekend because of the restore undertaken by the Delhi Jal Board (DJB).
“Water supply resumed this (Monday) morning after two days. But the water was dirty and smelly, and not fit for drinking,” mentioned Laxmi Nagar resident Pawan Kumar.
DJB officers mentioned it would take a while for the water to succeed in tail-end areas of the supply system.
“Supply has resumed in 90 per cent of affected areas. It will take time for water to reach the tail-end of the distribution system like in Mayur Vihar,” a senior DJB official mentioned.
Owners of some buildings on Vikas Marg had complained of seepage in basements because of leakages in the water traces, posing risk to the constructions.
The restore work was accomplished on Sunday night. The estimated time interval of the restore work was 12 hours, however it bought delayed by 24 hours because of difficulties in the duty, the DJB had earlier mentioned.Â
