Kolkata: Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday (March 10) filed her nomination from Nandigram’s seat for the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections.

Nandigram Assembly constituency is ready for a high-octane battle with Banerjee deciding to contest from the seat in opposition to Adhikari. 

Earlier on March 5, the TMC launched its record of candidates with Banerjee saying that she’s going to contest from Nandigram. She had been contesting polls from the Bhawanipore constituency up to now.

On March 6, the BJP fielded former TMC chief Suvendu Adhikari from Nandigram in opposition to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, setting the stage for a high-profile contest from the seat within the state meeting elections. 

Adhikari, a former minister within the Trinamool Congress authorities, had joined the BJP in December final 12 months. He had earlier mentioned that BJP will defeat TMC by over 50,000 votes from Nandigram.

West Bengal will witness eight-phased Assembly polls starting March 27, because the tenure of the sixteenth Legislative Assembly will finish on May 30 this 12 months.
