West Bengal Dearness Allowance (DA) Arrears Stir: Agitators Urge Guv To Arrange Meeting With Mamata Banerjee


Kolkata: West Bengal authorities staff, agitating to press for his or her demand for a hike in dearness allowance, have urged Governor C V Ananda Bose to behave as a mediator within the matter and prepare a gathering with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

The protesters said they might withdraw their starvation strike solely after getting assurance from the state authorities concerning their demand.

Following Bose’s request to take a seat collectively to discover a means out of the imbroglio, representatives of the agitating staff met him on the Raj Bhavan on Sunday.

“We want the governor to mediate in the matter and arrange for a meeting with the chief minister,” one of many agitating staff current on the assembly advised PTI.

Following the assembly, which lasted for round 20 minutes, Bose stated, “I appealed to those on hunger strike to kindly withdraw it because human life is precious. Every complex problem has a solution and we should try for it with an open mind.”

The governor had on Saturday, too, urged the agitators to withdraw their stir.

Protesting staff of 18 organisations, who’ve been demanding that their DA be raised to the extent of central authorities staffers, had known as for a complete strike on Friday.

Banerjee had stated within the meeting final week that she would not be capable to meet the demand for a DA hike even when the protesters “behead” her.
