The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is locked in a fierce verbal battle with the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in the run up to the high-voltage West Bengal Assembly elections, has alleged that a party worker and his mother were beaten mercilessly by the ‘goons’ of Trinamool Congress (TMC).
“They hit me on my head and neck. They punched on my face too. I am scared. They asked me not to tell anyone about it. My whole body is in pain,” ANI quoted Shova Majumdar, the mother of BJP worker Gopal Majumdar, as saying in a video in Bengali.
The BJP also shared the video on its Twitter handle.
“Listen to the mother of a BJP karyakarta, Gopal Majumdar of 24 Paraganas, who was beaten mercilessly by TMC goons (sic),” the BJP wrote on Twitter on Sunday.
“Mamata Didi, you will have to pay for the pain and tears of this elderly woman,” the BJP further wrote in its post in Hindi.
“They hit me on my head and neck and punched me. They hit me on my face too. I’m scared….”

Earlier on Saturday, BJP worker Gopal Majumdar was attacked by unknown miscreants at his residence in Ward 7 of North Dumdum area. His mother was also allegedly beaten. Majumdar has blamed the TMC workers for carrying out the attack.
TMC , however, rubbished the allegations and called the entire incident a BJP propaganda.
This comes just a day after the Election Commission announced eight-phase election schedule for the 294-seat West Bengal Assembly beginning March 27 and ending on April 29.
