New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Thursday stated all efforts will proceed to be made to convey again fugitives to face justice in India.
“As regards Mehul Choksi, I don’t have any particular update this week. He remains in custody of Dominican authorities and certain legal proceedings are underway,” PTI quoted MEA official spokesperson Arindam Bagchi as saying at a web-based media briefing.

The Dominican National Security and Home Affairs Ministry has directed the police to take obligatory motion to take away Choksi from Dominica as per the process.

India had earlier offered its case to allow extradition and current proof of Choksi’s monetary fraud to Dominica and urged the nation to clear his deportation.
The MEA official spokesperson additional stated the difficulty of financial offenders was mentioned final month throughout the UK-India talks.
Bagchi stated the UK had conveyed that there are some authorized hurdles due to the character of the prison justice system in that nation.
He, nevertheless, added the British facet will do no matter doable to ensure that such persons are extradited on the earliest.
Responding to a poser on Nirav Modi, the MEA official spokesperson stated: “We understand that Nirav Modi is seeking to appeal against this decision. He remains in the custody of UK authorities.”
