Security forces on Saturday destroyed a World War II vintage bomb, discovered throughout digging, in jap Manipur, defence officers stated.

Defence spokesman Lt Col A.S. Walia stated that the bomb was recovered by locals throughout digging work in Kamjong district, bordering Myanmar.

Upon receipt of the data, safety forces, with the help of native police, safely shifted the bomb away from the populated space for disposal, and a staff of the military bomb disposal unit carried out the protected disposal of 250 lbs bomb utilizing the ‘Violent Technique’.

This mechanism concerned cautious and technical placement of pre-calculated explosives and initiating managed detonation to destroy the bomb.

Before disposing off the highly effective bomb, a joint staff of Manipur Police and paramilitary forces ensured the protected evacuation of 250 residents and their varied livestock and home animals residing inside a 2 km radius of the explosion web site.

The destruction of the bomb was efficiently carried out with none untoward incident on account of explosion, the defence PRO stated.

Northeastern India was the location of a number of fierce battles in World War II as Japanese forces reached Manipur and Nagaland once they invaded British India.
