ECI instructs political parties in Odisha to not involve children in election campaign – India TV

Taking cognizance of a sequence of complaints concerning the engagement of children in political campaigning actions, the Election Commission of India issued a round barring political parties from involving children in any poll-related actions. Odisha’s Additional Chief Electoral Officer, N Thirumala Naik, acknowledged {that a} round had been issued to the presidents and secretaries of all acknowledged nationwide and regional parties in the state, urging them not to involve children in public rallies and conferences, following a number of complaints they acquired.

“Political parties should refrain from using children in election campaigns, canvassing, rallies, or any other form of participation, including distributing posters/pamphlets or participating in slogan shouting, campaign rallies, and election meetings,” the EC mentioned in an announcement.

Meanwhile, Odisha is ready to vote in the Lok Sabha elections and meeting polls concurrently in 4 phases, starting on May 13. Earlier, Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, throughout his go to to the state, launched a scathing assault on the BJP and BJD.
